Shaw Valley sits just off Sunset Drive on the southwest edge of St. Thomas, along the Kettle Creek ravine. It is one of Elgin County’s largest master planned communities, yet it has a genuine rural feel. Streets are quiet, lots are wider than in many new subdivisions, and the sidewalks are proper ones. Many homes back onto the ravine, so the view from the back porch is a tree lined ridge and the sunset rather than another row of houses.

Outdoor time is easy here. Homeowners have direct access to the Elgin Trail, a 26 km route with lake access that stays open for cycling year round, and the Elgin Hiking Trail runs along the base of the ravine. Community life centres on Shaw Valley Park, a six acre park and a daycare. Builders say an elementary school and a high school are within walking distance, though you should confirm catchments with the school boards.

The trade offs are real. Shaw Valley is still growing, so expect construction nearby for a while. There are no shops inside the community, so most errands mean a short drive into St. Thomas. Downtown Talbot Street is about 10 minutes by car, Port Stanley’s beaches about 20 minutes south, and downtown London about 40 minutes north. Builder marketing quotes shorter drive times, so test the commute yourself.

Shaw Valley is just off Sunset Drive along the Kettle Creek ravine, in the southwest part of St. Thomas. The ravine forms its natural western and southern edge.

One builder markets the community as Shaw Valley Country Club, but the sources describe a residential community centred on Shaw Valley Park and a daycare. No golf course inside the community was confirmed, so do not assume golf access.

Collier Homes is the main builder. Collier Homes and MacPherson Builders are partners on Shaw Valley Towns, and MP Custom Homes builds custom homes in the subdivision.

No current builder price list was found. For context, the St. Thomas median list price was about $582,400 in June 2026, and newer subdivisions across the city ranged from the high $300,000s into the $500,000s. Ask us for recent Shaw Valley sales and current builder pricing.
