Neighbourhood guide
What it is like to live in Lake Margaret and Miller’s Pond
Lake Margaret is one of St. Thomas’s established green space neighbourhoods, valued for its trail, water and calm streets. Doug Tarry Homes built Lake Margaret Estates here, and that community has since sold out. Miller’s Pond followed just to the south, off Southdale Line, and it is where new homes are being built and sold in 2026. The two share the same trail, the same parks and the same nearby schools, so most buyers look at them together.
Outdoor time is the draw. The Lake Margaret Trail runs past Caples Creek, with spots to hike or picnic. Parish Park has a playground and outdoor exercise equipment, the Doug Tarry Sports Complex is known for the best ball diamonds in the area, and Pinafore Park, the city’s most popular outdoor destination, is minutes away. Inside Miller’s Pond, paved multi use trails and native wildflower plantings for butterflies and bees run between the streets.
Everyday needs are close too. St. Joseph’s High School, Fanshawe College’s St. Thomas campus and St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital are all nearby. The trade offs are honest ones. Miller’s Pond is still under construction, so landscaping is young and some streets are unfinished. There are no shops or restaurants inside either community, so you will drive for groceries and dining downtown or along the city’s commercial corridors.
