Life Here
Swipe through what living here actually looks like.
Coffee on Talbot Street, then the farmers market and a walk through the Elevated Park.
Ten minutes south to Port Stanley for the beach, the pier, and a patio dinner on the harbour.
The Trans Canada Trail and Dalewood Conservation Area, with more kilometres added nearly every year.
Two school boards, a Fanshawe campus, and a 20 minute commute to London jobs via Highbury or Wellington.
Major employers keep investing here, bringing thousands of jobs and steady demand for housing.
St. Thomas grew up around the railways. At its peak the city was one of the busiest rail junctions in Canada, and the nickname Railway City never left. The best of that history is still on display: the Elevated Park, built on the old Michigan Central trestle, is Canada’s first elevated park, and the Jumbo monument at the west end of town remembers the day in 1885 the most famous elephant in the world died here. The core along Talbot Street has been steadily filling back in with restaurants, cafes and shops.
The practical draw is simpler. Home prices sit meaningfully below London and far below the Greater Toronto Area, the commute to London is about twenty minutes, and the beach is ten the other way. The city keeps adding jobs, and the enormous battery plant under construction on the east side is expected to bring thousands more over the coming years. For buyers priced out of bigger markets it is not a compromise. It is the move that makes the rest of life easier.
Inventory moves quickly, especially in the family neighbourhoods, because demand from London buyers keeps steady pressure on prices. The right home in Shaw Valley or Orchard Park can see multiple offers in its first week, while character homes downtown reward buyers who know what to look for in a century property. That is where living here matters: we can tell you which streets are quietly the best value in the city, and what your target neighbourhood has actually been selling for, not just asking.
Approximate drive times in normal traffic. St. Thomas sits on Highway 3, with Highbury Avenue and Wellington Road running straight north into London.

Client Stories
Totally impressed with Ryan and his recent listing and sale of my parents’ home in Port Stanley. He came to meet them prepared. He did his research and presented a comprehensive multi-channel marketing plan. He prepped and executed while keeping my parents totally informed every day. It’s a super tough market but after only 4 days and many showings, house was sold. I think you can’t go wrong with Ryan as your agent.
Ryan just sold our home. Trust me when I say he knows what he is doing. I have NEVER met a realtor who works as hard as Ryan does. He stays on top of EVERYTHING during the course of selling your home. The pictures, video and brochures of our home were top notch quality. I am a very picky client and I would not trust any one but Ryan. Thank you Ryan from the bottom of our hearts. You made it happen!!! Now onto our next journey… cheers
I’ve had many Realtors over the years and Ryan Featherstone by far is the most attentive and conscientious and hard-working realtor I’ve ever dealt with. He communicates and brings us up to speed on all the details, and is very market-driven. I would also like to add that Ryan not only becomes a business partner when selling your house but he becomes a kind friend. I would highly recommend anyone to engage with him before choosing a realtor, and you will see how well researched he is with his presentation when speaking to you. We already miss communicating with him after our house sold.
Ryan worked very hard during a tough market and he got my place sold! He really cares about his clients and goes the extra mile to make the sale happen. He looked after all the paperwork, marketing, open houses, showings, closing details and much more. I would highly recommend Ryan to anyone who wants results.
Ryan helped us with everything and went above and beyond. The marketing was really well done, and the whole experience was smooth and positive. His professionalism and dedication made all the difference. We are very grateful and would 100% recommend him to anyone buying or selling a home.
It was a pleasure working with Ryan. From our telephone call to set up a viewing to signing an offer was a quick smooth process. We appreciated his knowledge of the property and he took time to show us a comparable unit. Great friendly service. Thanks Ryan.
We had the pleasure of meeting with agent Ryan Featherstone in St. Thomas today. It was to view a couple of properties. We found him to be very knowledgeable about the city. He was friendly, engaging and we felt we had placed our search in the right hands. Ryan listened to us and did not resort to high pressure tactics, which we appreciated. If you’re looking for a great realtor and agent, you need look no further.
St. Thomas Questions
St. Thomas offers small city affordability with big city access. Homes cost meaningfully less than London or the GTA, the commute to London is about 20 minutes, and Port Stanley's beaches are 10 minutes away. Growing employment, new schools, and an expanding trail network make it especially popular with young families and first time buyers.
About 15 kilometres, which works out to a 20 minute drive via Highbury Avenue or Wellington Road. Many residents work in London and choose St. Thomas for the extra house their budget buys.
It depends what you are after. Shaw Valley for families and ravine lots, Harvest Run for new build with trail access, Orchard Park for move up buyers, The Ridge for newer builds, Dalewood and the North End for established streets near conservation land, and the Downtown Talbot core for character homes and walkability. Lake Margaret and Miller’s Pond are worth asking about too.
Prices vary by neighbourhood and season, and typically run below London and well below the GTA. For a current number specific to your target street or neighbourhood, request a free market report and we will pull the real sales data for you.
The Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board both operate schools in St. Thomas, and French immersion is available through both. Catchments shift as the city grows, so confirm the school for a specific address with the board before you buy. Fanshawe College also runs a regional campus in the city.
Yes, quickly. The city passed 42,000 residents at the 2021 census and has kept building since, with new subdivisions on several edges of the city and a major battery plant under construction on the east side that is expected to bring thousands of jobs. That growth is a large part of why homes here hold their value.
