Neighbourhood guide
What it is like to live in Harvest Run
Harvest Run is one of St. Thomas’s newer subdivisions, built on the southeast edge of the city between Centennial Avenue and Elm Street. Five local builders work here, with Doug Tarry Homes as the main developer. That means elevations and finishes change from street to street, and buyers can compare several builders’ plans without leaving the neighbourhood. Homes started selling around 2019, and the community is still building and selling in 2026.
The design leans on the outdoors. Paved multi use trails wind past two ponds, naturalized areas, mature trees and wildflower meadows, with native plantings for pollinators and views over the countryside. The builders market schools and parks as a short walk away. Local realtor guides describe it as a fit for first time buyers and growing families who want a newer home. The community’s nickname, the Home of Hope, comes from a house more than 600 volunteers built here in three days.
Living on the edge of the city has trade offs. Later phases are still under construction, so expect trucks and building noise for a while. Landscaping and street trees are young. There is no shopping inside the subdivision, and downtown is about a 10 minute drive, so most errands mean a car. In return you get a quick run out of town: roughly 20 minutes to Highway 401 and about 25 minutes to the beaches at Port Stanley.
