Neighbourhood guide

What it is like to live in Stoneybrook, London

Stoneybrook is a north London family neighbourhood known for mature trees, big backyards and quiet streets. It took shape from the 1960s through the 1980s, mostly as single family homes, with some townhouses and apartments mixed in. Winding streets and cul de sacs were laid out for family life, and many lots are larger than average, often with a pool. The heart of the neighbourhood is Stoneybrook Public School and Hastings Park, and the Northridge area east of Adelaide Street shares the same feel.

Nature is part of daily life here. The Stoney Creek Valley runs through the neighbourhood, with trails that connect straight to residential streets. Hastings Park has paved walking trails, tennis courts and soccer fields. To the south and east, Kilally Meadows protects 146 hectares of public land along the North Thames River and Meander Creek, with forest trails and river views. Northridge Community Pool on Glenora Drive and the Stoney Creek off leash dog park on Adelaide Street are local favourites.

Shopping is unusually close for a leafy suburb. Many residents can walk to CF Masonville Place, and the Stoneybrook Shopping Plaza at Fanshawe Park Road East and Adelaide Street covers daily needs. The trade offs are worth knowing. Many homes are 40 to 60 years old and may need updates, day to day life is mostly by car, and busy commercial roads such as Fanshawe Park Road border the area.
